Top 5 Pens- May 2019 Edition

Happy Monday friends!

Today I wanted to share with you my top 5 pens for the month of May! These are my go to pens on a daily/weekly basis. This list does include both fountain pens and regular pens just because I use different pens for different reasons. These pens are not in any particular order either, just as I thought about them.

  1. TWSBI Mini in Clear- This is probably my most favorite of my limited fountain pen collection at the moment. I love the TWSBI brand in general, my first pen was a TWSBI Eco in black. I love the size and weight of this pen, and unlike my Eco, I haven’t had any problems with the pen skipping.

  2. Pilot Hi-Tech-C Coleto Multi Pen- I found this pen through the early episodes of the Pen Addict Podcast and fell in love with it when I received it. I ordered it from JetPens for a really reasonable price and I use the 0.4mm refills for my writing. I like to use it in my Travelers Company branded planner inserts as well as in my general note taking. I feel like the refills last for a while and are super inexpensive. I’m the kind of person that likes to color code my planner and my college notes (I just graduated college on Saturday and will hopefully be starting Grad School in the fall) so these are perfect because I am only carrying two pens with 8 refill colors.

  3. Sharpie Pen in Fine- I LOVE using these pens in my Travelers Notebook branded journal. I tend to write super small on blank paper and the Fine/ Ultra Fine nib is perfect for this. I also love that it’s water resistant and it doesn’t seem to fade. I can use it with my water colors in my journal and have absolutely no problem with it. It helps that they are readily available in big box stores and I can get them in multipacks. The pens can last for quite a while before they need to be replaced, which is a huge bonus in my book.

  4. Monteverde Monza in Island Blue- This was my second fountain pen and I ordered it from Goulet on a closeout sale (you can still purchase it at JetPens though). I like mine with the fine nib. This is the only pen that I’m using my cartridge in instead of the converter. I really like how this pen writes and I am not worried about if I lose this pen (although I will be sad). I have penabled several friends using this pen. It’s a great starter fountain pen and the price definitely doesn’t hurt either.

  5. Rite in the Rain Tactical Black Clicker Pen- I’ve known about this pen since I was in the military. I’ve always found it in the military surplus stores or the post exchange, but I think you can find it at Walmart online now. This is a tactical type pen with a pressurized refill (which can also be purchased separately). It writes in any weather and in drastic temperatures. It can write upside down and even on wet paper (which is super gross, but I can attest to that from my time in the field). I use this one in my Field Notes notebooks and just really enjoy using it.

I used to think I was kind of strange because I liked using different pens for different purpose. The nice thing about finding the pen community is that I realize that it’s pretty standard within the community to use multiple pens for different things.

Do you have favorite pens or pens that you go to for certain things? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time!
